Customer FAQ's
The following information is provided to answer some of the more common
questions we are asked about your cabinetry and/or counter top order and
installation project.
  1. Cabinet delivery to your house typically occurs between three and eight weeks
after placing your order. You will be given an approximate delivery date usually
within two to three weeks. Cabinets are delivered to your house by the cabinet
manufacturer on their truck or by a third party specialized delivery service.

 2. If you hire us to tear-out and haul away your old cabinets, we will disconnect
your sink if working shut off valves are available. If not, you will need to hire a
plumber before we begin tearing out your cabinets. Some mess may be created with
the tear out of your cabinets as well as possible damage to your walls. Oftentimes,
there is existing wall damage that has been hidden by the old cabinets. Depending
on the amount or type of damage, you may need to have additional work performed
before or after we install your new cabinets. While we are very careful when working
in your home, minor wall and paint damage may occur. You may need to make minor
repairs after your cabinets and counter tops are installed.

3. In order to keep our prices competitive, we do not accept any returns. The
cabinets we offer are semi-custom or fully custom and are not returnable to the
manufacturers. Our designers take a lot of time and care designing your kitchen with
you to make sure the final design is just how you would like it.

4. If you are ordering wood cabinets, please be aware that all woodgrain, pigmented
or natural finishes will exhibit some color changes over time. Wood cabinets will also
have streaks and spots that are caused by variations in the minerals and acids in
the soil in which the tree was grown. These natural variations in graining and color
are inherent in the wood. It is the beauty and nature of wood to have these
variations and they are not considered a reason for replacement.

5. When you purchase cabinets  along with installation, our payment terms are a
50% of the cabinets portion deposit at the time of the order, and the 50% at the time
of the cabinet delivery. On the installation portion,50% is due upon commencement,
40% upon the bulk of work done and the 10% balance at the completion of the
installation of the cabinetry.

If you purchase cabinets from us without the installation, payment terms are 50%
deposit at time of order and 50% upon delivery of cabinetry to job-site or
warehouse..

6. Please plan on being home when the templating occurs to answer any questions
as well as to view and approve the configuration of the new counter top.  It is
important that you have your sink and all faucets you would like cutouts for at your
house at the time we template.

7. When the counter top is being installed, it is important that you are present to
approve the locations of the holes for faucets, dispensers, etc. If you have a
dishwasher, it must be in place before  the counter top goes on so it can be secured
to the counter top.

8. After installing new cabinets and/or counter tops, the top of the new counter top
may be at a height different from your original counter top. You may find your pass
through windows, electrical boxes; paint and wallpaper lines, etc. may no longer
work or need to be adjusted. In some instances you may need to your hire a
specialized tradesman to make the adjustment.
9. We carry liability and workers comp insurance. We will provide you a copy upon
your request.

10. The contents of your existing cabinets must be removed prior to our arrival to
tear-out your old cabinets. We ask that any items that are breakable be removed
from the kitchen and surrounding rooms that adjoin the kitchen and through which
our workers must pass or in which we may stock cabinets.

11. Please provide a path to the kitchen work area that is least disruptive to your
home for the delivery and storage of cabinets and as a path for workers.

12. Our installation crews will make every effort to control dust. However, there are
always dust particles that will permeate beyond the installation area, and these may
cause you some additional cleaning efforts when the job is completed.

13. Our goal is to make the replacement of your cabinets
as painless as possible. The kitchen is the most difficult room in a home to remodel
because it contains electrical, mechanical and plumbing systems. We sometimes run
into problems that can not be anticipated,

but will always make you aware of situations we may encounter and assist in their
resolution to the best of our ability.

14. We encourage you to review the information at that site to further answer any
questions you may have about your new counter tops.

  • Care and maintenance is easy

  • After installation and approximately twice a year thereafter, you should clean your cabinets with a mild, non-abrasive soap and water solution
applied and dried with a soft cloth. Of course, wipe up any spills as they occur and take care to wipe up any water around those areas of the
kitchen susceptible to moisture (sink, oven, range, dishwasher, etc.) as it collects.

  • Polishing should be done sparingly, if at all, because polishes will build up over time and may affect the beauty of your finish, especially if your
cabinets are topped with a flat varnish. If you do polish your cabinets, be sure to use a high quality cream or oil furniture polish that does not
    contain wax or silicone.

  • Remember that Plato’s finish is all the protection your cabinets need. Following the simple procedure described above will help assure they
continue to be a source of pride for years to come.

  • Helpful Tips
  • Cabinets finished with a catalyzed conversion varnish may be cleaned occasionally by wiping with a damp cloth or with mild soap and water.
However, even the best cabinetry finishes are not designed for repeated exposure to soap and water.

  • Cabinets should be dried off with a soft cloth after cleaning.

  • Wipe up food or water spills as they occur.

  • To help remove grease buildup, a vinegar/water solution is recommended. This solution will not leave a residue.

  • Abrasive cleaners, such as Ajax, Comet, Soft Scrub etc., should not be used.

  • Pledge or other wax products are not recommended as they may yellow over time.
Clean Lines & Classic Styles Define Kitchen Cabinets

Clean and classic styling is the hottest trend in kitchen cabinetry right now, as value-conscious consumers seek simple yet elegant designs that will
stand the test of time. Eco-friendly wood species are garnering attention, while custom options become increasingly available at multiple price points.
Additionally, cabinet interior design is moving to the forefront as aging baby boomers seek greater accessibility and a more efficient use of space.

Below are some of the dominant trends in kitchen cabinetry:
Clean lines and classic styles dominate today's kitchen cabinet choices, with value, sustainability and organization key priorities among consumers.
Maple and alder are popular wood choices, while bamboo and lyptus appeal to environmentally conscious consumers. For the more budget-minded
shopper, laminates in wood grain patterns offer an appealing option.
Interior storage accessories are more relevant than ever as they maximize cabinet space and accessibility - particularly critical as consumers
increasingly decide to remodel within their kitchen's existing footprint rather than expanding the space.
Custom components are becoming more affordable, allowing consumers at all price points to create a more personalized look for their cabinetry.
However, excessive ornamentation has fallen out of vogue, with cleaner styles that minimize clutter reflecting the new consumer mindset.
Painted finishes are gaining in popularity, while contrasting paint and stained finishes in one kitchen is a great way to add visual interest and
character.
Consumers are showing greater awareness of green issues as the Kitchen Cabinet Manufacturers Association's Environmental Stewardship Program
grows in scope, yet the added cost to “going green” presents an obstacle that is difficult to overcome in a challenging economy.
